The final curtain never falls here so drop in any time to share your thoughts, stories and ideas. We will also have interesting and creative activities for you to participate in and the chance to earn prizes and get an exclusive view into what Alberta Ballet looks like behind the scenes. You’re welcome to join a conversation in the Community Café, or start one yourself about something you care about. Plus, keep an eye on the News for interesting articles on arts and culture and all the latest Alberta Ballet news.
This community was created to bring people with a common passion together so they can share ideas, solve challenges and help inspire us at Alberta Ballet. Whether it is a modest intellectual plié or a grand jeté of an idea we want you to share them all with us, ask questions and support and comment on ideas. Innovation is as collaborative as the performances you see on stage, so whether you are participating in activities or providing feedback, you are an integral part of driving towards the best idea. Just remember to be respectful of others and their opinions – like a dancer, no idea is born perfect!
It’s easy to get involved
On a regular basis we will invite you to participate in new activities including quick questions, polls, quizzes and discussions. These activities will be displayed on the dashboard and you will be notified by email when they are added. Completing activities and logging in regularly will help you earn “Pointes”– and the more Pointes you have, the more often you will be entered into our prize drawings.
You can also share your thoughts and opinions by commenting, by completing quick surveys, or by chatting with others in the Community Café, our virtual creative studio for sharing ideas.
- Participate: Complete your activities.
- Submit: Share your experience and join discussions to submit your feedback.
- Tag: Add descriptive “tags” to your discussion submissions.
- Comment: Respond to other participants’ ideas.
- Vote: Vote on what grabbed your attention.
- Get rewarded: Participate to earn Pointes and be entered into our prize draws. Remember – if you hit the Étoile level, you will be eligible for a Étoile-only group of prizes.
As you participate more regularily you will have the opportunity to earn unique community badges. By completing multiple activities, gaining followers, and submitting and supporting challenge ideas you could eventually be rewarded with a new badge. These badges will appear on the right hand side of your profile page. Visit your profile to check out the badges and discover how you can earn more by clicking on each one.
Idea Submission Phase – Once you’ve read the challenge instructions and come up with your inspiring idea, it’s time to share it with the rest of the community. Give your idea a title and a description, add any supporting images, videos and documents that help describe and clarify your idea, and click “submit” or save a draft and submit when you’re ready. We also encourage all our Balletomanes to build on the ideas by commenting on those posted by others, and providing constructive support to make them even better.
Expert Review Phase – The ideas submitted are reviewed by an expert panel, which may include the moderation team, special guests in the community, and/or members of Alberta Ballet. The expert panel will choose the best idea(s) as challenge winner(s) based on the following criteria: solves the challenge, market fit, creativity and comprehensiveness.
Support Phase – After the submission phase closes and the experts have reviewed the submissions, all community members will have a specified amount of time to support the final ideas that are their favourite. The amount of Pointes with which you are able to support ideas is directly related to your level in the community and the number of Pointes you’ve earned. Be selective about which ideas you support because if you support one of the winning ideas you can get double your Pointes back. Check out the Rewards page for more information on levels and supporting ideas.
Winner Recognition – We celebrate the winning ideas selected by you and the expert panel. Winners will receive Pointes, prizes and possibly other goodies. See the Rewards page for more information.
How to support an idea
Supporting an idea takes less than a minute of your time. Go to the idea that you want to support, scroll down to the “support” section, and decide how many Pointes you want to use to support the idea. The maximum number of Pointes that you can use to support an idea is based on your level and your Pointe balance. Check out the Rewards page for more information on the levels, and supporting ideas, or your own Level page to see which level you’re at and how many more Pointes you need to earn to reach the next level!
By participating regularly in the community, you will continue to earn Pointes. Some activities that will earn you Pointes include logging into the community regularly, answering quick questions and completing surveys. In addition, submitting and supporting ideas when we host challenges could have a big impact on your Pointe balance.
